EggLoop

Recognizing eggshell waste as a valuable raw material. Eggshell waste is among the most abundant waste materials coming from the food processing industry, and despite its multiple properties, it is very often discarded without further use and in many countries ends up in landfills. However, this waste has the potential to become a valuable raw material for product applications, its combination with organic ingredients, opens multiple opportunities to create biocomposites.

One of the problems is that there is no collection system. By addressing this issue, it is possible to create a cycle around the material.

Taking a proactive role in the phase of material development could influence in a positive way the design journey and foster knowledge exchange between disciplines. This project aims to explore de capabilities of eggshell-based material through a circular environment and its sharing to promote the use of biomaterials.
