Why?
How often do you think about soil and agriculture – in a day, a week, a year? Probably not enough. Soil is the basis for human life and our economy. At present, agriculture places excessive demands on this resource, harming the climate and all life on earth.
What?
Kulturzentrum Erde questions conventional agriculture by placing soil at the heart of our joint responsibility. Here, people work together to examine habits, exchange ideas, and find new ways to support the very foundation of life through everyday choices and actions.
How?
The institution’s programs are designed to showcase the multilayered roles and aspects of soil. Visitors can join a soil-themed pub quiz, discover new facts, participate in a writing workshop, or attend presentations by soil experts to learn from different soil cultures.
For whom?
Designed for urban areas, the cultural center offers a diverse range of programs, attracting residents from all backgrounds. As an inclusive community center, it brings together people committed to learning about, caring for, and protecting the soil that sustains us all.
Impact
Topsoil is vanishing at an alarming rate. To safeguard future generations, we must reconnect with soil by organizing hands-on workshops, promoting composting and regenerative agriculture, so that stewardship becomes a daily habit and a policy priority for all.
