Death and dying eventually affect us all. Despite this, talking about these topics is stigmatized in everyday discussions, leaving people unprepared to do so meaningfully. In my thesis, I researched tools to reduce the stigma of discussing death in society, and to encourage young adults to discuss the topic early. Starting from these tools, I developed an intervention to ease these discussions.
The prototype resulting from my research is a digital platform connected to physical touchpoints which encourage people to create tasks related to the topic of death and exchange these with others who also use the platform.
This project is targeted towards young adults who have limited exposure to death and may want to explore the topic but lack the necessary resources to do so: it provides a chance for communities and individuals to address the topic of death in a way that suits them, enabling them to practice and prepare for discussions before they become necessary.
