MoveMate

Prevent posture problems and encourage exercise breaks with an app

Due to the widespread use of smartphones and computers, posture issues have become common. Although exercise is a known solution for preventing and treating this problem, individuals often need more motivation to engage in it. “MoveMate” is a digital personal assistant that reminds computer users to take short breaks for exercises to alleviate discomfort. The software provides gentle prompts, physiotherapist-approved exercises, and incentives to develop healthy habits. The personal assistant utilizes desktop software with webcam-based tracking to monitor users during exercise. This technology ensures correct exercise performance and provides feedback to the user. The project addresses posture issues among young adults aged 18 to 35. This demographic often uses technology frequently and experiences back pain without seeking medical attention. “MoveMate” provides physician-approved exercises and reminders to promote regular exercise and improve posture.
