Franziska Kleinsorg
Franziska Kleinsorg’s „The Other Work“ explores the gap between public representation and the professional reality of sex work. Many of these overlooked aspects are non-sexual and include laundry, texting with clients, marketing, financial planning, as well as health and safety precautions. In close collaboration with sex workers, Kleinsorg provides a nuanced report on their day-to-day routines, highlighting the professionalism and organisational skills the job demands. Through flash photography and staged still lifes, the project aims to visualize invisible labour while challenging stereotypes and voyeuristic clichés. Emphasizing objects, environments, and subtle traces, the resulting publication evokes a quiet intimacy without becoming intrusive. By combining research, artistic interpretation, and dialogue, Kleinsorg calls for a shift in perspective which affirms the complexity and legitimacy of sex work.
