Gigi Kalaher
This sculpture, performance and interaction is a meditation on the body as a vessel, temporality, the nature of knowing and the importance of community. The large clay figure is created in situ for the duration of the exhibition, lying on the ground and facing the river. The viewer is invited to witness the dialogue and collaboration between ground, clay and sculptor, as the work is not rehearsed or prepared in advance. The process unfolds in real time, with continuous learning and adjustment guided by the material and bodily intuition. On May 11, the community is invited to take handfuls of the clay figure and return them to the river. This act of catharsis carries individual meaning for each participant, while also signifying collective care, holding and release within the group.
