Noise from traffic and dense urban settlements harms health, nature, wildlife, and climate. In high-traffic areas with few green spaces, access to nature is unequal, affecting overall well-being. Vegetation and green areas reduce outdoor noise and offer peaceful refuge for people and wildlife, buffering the city’s constant buzz. While cities are adding more green spaces, it’s vital that these are public, inclusive, visible, and accessible—especially in noise-affected zones.

The «green community cocoon» design model proposes small, nearby spaces that promote mindfulness, social connection, and nature-based well-being. By blending green initiatives with social design, this model revives community traditions, strengthens the human-nature bond, and mitigates urban heat. Grounded in the relationship between people and nature, it supports local governments in building more livable cities through inclusive, restorative, and socially engaging green spaces.
