Tourism offices have long been places where visitors stop to ask, collect information, and continue their journey. Outside the Counter questions this traditional role by exploring how tourism offices can adapt to changing visitor needs and local realities. Developed in Val d’Anniviers, the project proposes a mobile tourism office and family-focused experiences as tools to support this transition. Through a service design approach, it helps tourism offices move from a fixed, information-based model toward a more flexible, human, and place-based role. The project is not only about creating new visitor experiences, but about supporting a cultural shift in how tourism organizations engage with people, places, and change.
