A new beginning: as the sun rises, new intellectuals are emerging in the aftermath of ‹mani pulite› promising change and bringing new hope. A house is seen from far away as the day is about to end. Foggy mornings are common in the plains of the Piemonte. Foggy is also the formation of a government based on populist narratives. The intellectuals assure with clear vision, but its realization comes abruptly to an end, like a piece of film that breaks. What guarantees wealth, hides destruction and gloomy prospects: a reactionary government is born, based on a system of hegemonic narratives being played back and forth again, like a looping tape, until each class adopts the ruling class’ common sense. What flourished once, is now destined to memories, ready to be instrumentalized and distorted by the cry of the populists.
