Moments of Care

Making Emotional Clarity Visible in Everyday Nursing

Nurses provide care every day not only through medical tasks, but with empathy, presence, and emotional resilience. This emotional work is essential, yet often invisible. Many nurses feel unappreciated, emotionally tired, and expected to give more than they can. While they support patients and teams, their own needs often remain unseen. This project asks: How can those who care for others be better cared for themselves?

Based on interviews and diary entries with nurses in Switzerland, the project explores how unspoken expectations and interpersonal dynamics shape the daily experience of care. The resulting design intervention creates small moments of reflection and recognition not by adding new tasks, but by gently shifting attention within existing routines.
Simple tools such as stickers with reflective questions, a shared reflection wall, and visual prompts support emotional clarity, appreciation, and connection within care teams.

“Moments of Care” is an invitation to make the invisible visible. It reframes emotional capacity not as an individual burden, but as a shared responsibility embedded into everyday systems of care.
