Maria Róża Cielecka
WHY
Most things come with instructions, but the body carries cultural expectations. Before learning to respect its natural needs and rhythms, we are besieged by advertising promises that lead to perceived bodily shortcomings and encourage a mistrust of one’s senses.
WHAT
Disconnection can occur on many levels. Through her research, Maria concluded that the body is not an isolated entity. Each body forms a universe of interconnected parts while also existing as a small component of something much larger. This shared experience calls for re-acknowledgment.
HOW
What’s unseen can be vital. To explore the invisible, Maria developed ‚Germs’—booklets and films that use visuals and narration to reveal what matters but can’t be seen. The project is a metaphor: like germs and stories, ideas spread and grow in their own time.
FOR WHOM
The diversity of stories and forms, initially disorienting, mirrors the complexity of the subject. The intended audience is anyone willing to explore and reconnect with their own body.
IMPACT
There are many ways to reconnect with oneself. Spreading germs offers space for renewed trust in the body, encouraging individuals to experience themselves beyond imposed expectations. The compact format invites open discourse and makes the work accessible
