A Good Life

A Good Life explores the conflicting identity of coming from Thai and Swiss cultures. It is an exploration of one’s past, the beginning of love between two cultures, the intertwined and dividing nature of that relationship and what happens when one falls out of love with a culture. Moving back and forth between digital and 16 millimeter analog film, the project combines a personal travel journal with speculations on an alternative life. In this hybrid practice, it questions dual identity based on the matter of dust: Dust as as a metaphor for things that were once connected. It is an indicator for cleanliness. Dust as bodily decay, ancestors, generational lineage. Dust makes the world graspable to us through signs of age and time. The project is a recollection of lives that were never lived and of what’s left behind.
