Creating an Inclusive Workplace for Gender Non-Conforming People

This bachelor’s project explores the challenges that gender non-conforming (GNC) people face in the workplace.

Two main questions guided the research:

  • How do relationships and interactions in the workplace co-create experiences of inclusion and exclusion for gender non-conforming individuals?
  • How can organizations cultivate environments where diverse identities co-evolve through mutual learning and respect?

The research showed that GNC individuals often experience high levels of stress due to not feeling a sense of belonging. Many of them require both personal and professional support.

Employees expressed a clear need for a safe, informal space where they could speak openly and feel heard. In response, the project proposes a small pilot program: a three-session Community of Practice (CoP) led by an external facilitator. The goal of the CoP is to build trust, foster a sense of belonging, and encourage honest conversations.
