Forestria

eine feministisch-utopische Verhandlung

«Forestria – a feminist-utopian trial» is a social experiment and inspired on the one hand by climate justice trials I, in my role as a lawyer, have been involved in and where I have witnessed the increasing state repression against climate activism. And on the other hand my exchange with the Zentrum für Politische Schönheit in Berlin, an artist collective that uses humanistic-utopian actions in order to show how our world could be politically more beautiful.

Forestria is loosely based on the “Rümi bleibt” forest occupation by climate justice activists in the canton of Zurich, who sought to resist the deforestation in Rümlang for a construction waste site needed for new housing projects. Forestria epitomises a feminist-matriarchal vision of society, in which conflicts are resolved in a non-hierarchical setting by listening to the different perspectives, mutual understanding of the different positions and the negotiation of a consensual solution, filmed in a stone circle in Zurich’s surrounding forest. The visual aspects of this work were inspired by matriarchal-utopian artist Saya Woolfalk and her work «The Empathics».
