Screen Paradox ist eine live erstellte Video-Collage in drei Szenen, sie verbindet Methoden des Videoessays und der Video-Collage mit Elementen der Performance und befragt unsere Beziehung zum Bildschirm. In der «Desktop Performance» wird die Schreibtischoberfläche des Computers zur Bühne, auf der Bild und Ton den Ort ihrer Aufführung finden. Die Collage konfrontiert Found Footage verschiedener zeitgenössischer Online-Formate (z.B. ASMR-, Unboxing- oder Shopping-Videos) mit kunsthistorischen Bildern. Die choreografierte Audio- und Videokomposition wirft immer wieder aufs Neue die Frage auf, inwieweit das, was sich auf dem Schreibtisch begegnet, etwas miteinander zu tun hat.
Unser Blick in den Bildschirm scheint heutzutage so banal wie alltäglich. Diese Art des Sehens hat aber eine faszinierende Geschichte, ist komplexer als gemeinhin angenommen und der Bildschirm in seinem Wesen äusserst widersprüchlich. Screen Paradox geht der Frage nach, warum uns diese leuchtende Fläche so viel bedeutet.

Screen Paradox is a live video collage in three scenes, it combines methods of video essay and video collage with elements of performance and questions our relationship to the screen. In this «Desktop Performance» the desktop surface of the computer becomes the stage on which images and sounds find the place of their performance. The collage confronts found footage of various contemporary online formats (e.g. ASMR, unboxing or shopping videos) with art historical images. The choreographed audio and video composition repeatedly raises the question of the extent to which what meets on the desk has anything to do with each other.
Nowadays, our gaze into the screen seems as banal as it is commonplace. But this way of seeing has a fascinating history, is more complex than commonly assumed, and the screen is extremely contradictory in its nature. Screen Paradox explores the question of why this luminous surface means so much to us.
