Opa Paul erzählt einzig seinem Enkel, dem Regisseur, von seiner Kindheit – von der Flucht aus Schlesien, im heutigen Polen. Er äussert den Wunsch nach einem Schlüssel aus seiner Heimat, egal welchen, bloss alt soll er sein. Am Geburtsort seines Grossvaters angekommen, trifft der Enkel auf Räume, die sich einer Öffnung nur scheinbar widersetzen.

Grandpa Paul tells only his grandson, the director, about his childhood – about the flight from Silesia, in today’s Poland. He wishes to have a key from his hometown, no matter which one, but it should be an old one. Arriving at his grandfather’s town of birth, the grandson encounters rooms that only seem to resist opening.
