The work deals with the role of design in development cooperation and focuses on supporting the exchange of knowledge at various levels.
At the development cooperation project Model Farm in Donomadé in Togo, West Africa, three-dimensional models, symbol and participatory strategies are developed and tested in workshops with the local population. The aim is to collect existing and new knowledge about local agriculture and farming and to make it accessible and tangible for everyone. These instruments support the communication between the project participants, the identity foundation, as well as the planning and organization of activities around the farm.
The experiences form the basis for the development of a transferable set of maps, which serves as a working and exchange instrument for projects in an intercultural context. Four card categories describe the case, the problem area, the social factors and methodological approaches.

Die Arbeit setzt sich mit der Rolle des Designs in der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit auseinander und fokussiert sich dabei auf die Unterstützung des Wissensaustausches auf verschiedenen Ebenen.
Am Entwicklungszusammenarbeitsprojekt Modellfarm in Donomadé in Togo, Westafrika werden in Workshops mit der lokalen Bevölkerung dreidimensionale Modelle, Symbole und partizipative Strategien erarbeitet und getestet. Diese verfolgen das Ziel vorhandenes und neues Wissen rund um die lokale Landwirtschaft und den Farmbetrieb zu sammeln und für alle zugänglich und erfahrbar zu machen. Diese Instrumente unterstützen dabei die Kommunikation zwischen den Projektbeteiligten, die Identitätsstiftung, sowie Planung und Organisation der Tätigkeiten rund um die Farm.
Die Erfahrungen bilden die Basis für die Entwicklung eines erweiterbaren Kartensets, das als Planungs- und Austauschinstruments für Projekte im interkulturellen Kontext dient.
