MSc International Financial Management: Curling Event

by Prof. Dr. Imke Keimer, Head of MSc International Financial Management, Prof. Dr. Stefan Hunziker, Head of MSc International Financial Management and Eric Zürcher, Master’s Assistant at the Institute of Financial Services Zug IFZ.

This week twelve students from six different nations were welcomed to the MSc International Financial Management at the Institute of Financial Services Zug IFZ. During the introductory day, the students were informed about their programme, the classes and the time models offered.

However, the highlight of the introductory day was the social event: curling. This event offered the new students the opportunity to get to know students of the higher semesters and some professors. To defy the cold of the curling hall – 6 degrees Celsius are not exactly warm – the first step was to change to warm clothes. To make sure that nobody really had to freeze, the trainers carried out an intensive warm-up. Now the actual curling could begin. In small groups, each with its own coach, the art of curling was introduced. Nevertheless, a few falls could not be prevented and not every stone landed in the house. Even if it was all about the fun, a serious curling atmosphere could be perceived at the end.

After curling, students and professors met in the bar opposite the ice field for drinks and snacks. This was not only a good opportunity to discuss the performance on the ice, but also to make first friends or to clarify questions about the Master’s programme.

This event on ice was a great start to the upcoming semester! So, let the curling slogan “Good stones” be true for all the new students.
